Tuesday 03:23
TUESDAY Tuesday morning I’m looking for a ride I need someplace I can go and hide Alarm clock is always telling me what to do Get up in the morning, put on my working shoes And I walk, I toe the line But it feels just like I’m doing time On my way to work I don’t know what I’ve seen Pull into the parking lot Wonder what I could have been And I walk, I toe the line But it feels just like I’m doing time This road leads to nowhere I feel I’m sinking fast I hope maybe some day I can call this all my past And I walk, I toe the line But it feels just like I’m doing time I look down the road but I just don’t see the light But I’ll hold on to my dreams and something might go right And I walk, I toe the line But it feels just like I’m doing time The working day begins and the gears are moving fast Eight hours it’s all over and another day goes past On my drive back home, the lights are always red Sometimes it’s hard to deal with all these thoughts in my head And I walk, I toe the line But it feels just like I’m doing time (c) John Rogers

WALKING DOWN THE ROAD I'm walking down the road I'm walking down the road Where I'm going, I don't know I'm just walking down the road Maybe I'll go to Mexico Maybe I'll go to Idaho It's pretty in June in Saskatoon Way up through Alaska too I'm walking down the road I'm walking down the road Where I'm going, I don't know I'm just walking down the road Guitars, harmonicas Living the life I wanna, 'cause 9 to 5's monotonous Traveling life is all or bust Got no troubles, go no cares I'm free and clear as mountain air Life's a dream, if you dare Close your eyes, it'll take you there 18-wheelers pass me by Some stop to offer rides Driver says, "Supposed to rain" That's when I smile and say I'm walking down the road I'm walking down the road Where I'm going, I don't know I'm just walking down the road (c) Bob Westfall 2011

My Bike 03:32
MY BIKE When I was a young boy, I waited for the train I stood on the platform in the sun or the rain I knew my bike would soon arrive I saw it in the window at the five and dime Each morning I woke up too young to go to school I walked down to the station and waited for the train When I heard that horn blast, my heart would race I knew my bike was here at last and I could go for a ride Hey mister conductor, Is there a bike in your car? You see I’ve been waiting here a while He said, “I’m sorry son”, sometimes he called me by name He said, “I looked at the other station young man, but your little red bike never came.” When I heard that horn blast, my heart would race I knew my bike was here at last and I could go for a ride That train would chug away pulling on my dreams Promises broken that’s just the way it seems Now I don’t like to make a promise, don’t want to make a mistake Most times can be relied on and sometimes got what it takes When I heard that horn blast, my heart would race I knew my bike was here at last and I could go for a ride Now when I see a train, I remember those days How I stood on the platform looking both ways I can see the steam rise I hear the breaks squeal Most off I remember the slamming of that door Hey mister conductor, is there a bike in your car? You see I’ve been waiting here a while He said, “I’m sorry son”, sometimes he called me by name “I looked at the other station young man but your little red bike never came.” When I heard that horn blast, my heart would race I knew my bike was here at last and I could go for a ride (c) John Rogers

STEEL RAIL BLUES One of these days, I'm gonna ride that train Just to see where it takes me For lately I've been thinking that maybe Anywhere's a better place to be I'd send a letter to my baby But I've been away too long I'd be a fool to think she'd wait for me I know she's done gone and moved on It pains me so to picture her sleeping Softly in the arms of another Does she dream the dreams she dreamed with me When I was her lover? In my dreams her arms unfold before me Open wide, willing, ready and waiting To embrace me, and to take me To her heart and console me Keep me far from lonely Them steel rails, they're crying Calling out for me to ride 'em Maybe that long, lonesome train Will take me home again Maybe that long, lonesome train Will take me home again. RUBBER BALL BLUES Sometimes your life feels like a big rubber ball And you don’t know which way to roll It can carry you up or leave you flat on the ground But don’t let your blues take you away Don’t you believe it when they tell you those lies Oh, can’t you see it when you look into my eyes? You hear the phone ring, you shake as she picks up her end ‘Cause you really don’t know what to say You hang up the phone and slowly walk away Kick a stone down the road into the day Don’t you believe it when they tell you those lies Oh, can’t you see it when you look into my eyes? So you feel like a carousel you spin round and you spin round Never know when you’ll get your feet back down on the ground You spin and you spin don’t know where you’re going or where you bin Just want to pick up the pieces and walk on Don’t you believe it when they tell you those lies Oh, can’t you see it when you look into my eyes? Sometimes your life feels like a big rubber ball And you don’t know which way to roll It can carry you up or leave you flat on the ground But don’t let your blues take you away Don’t you believe it when they tell you those lies Oh, can’t you see it when you look into my eyes? TWO MOONS BEHIND With a fist full of dollars I ride on alone Through a desert of dust deserted like death With eyes cold as stone To a town on the outskirts of nowhere Full of lust, lead, and guns Where countless bottles of whisky await A bandit on the run, freedom I have known But will never know again For they'll hang me if they catch me Hang me high in the street Cut me down, dig up the ground Bury me six feet deep 'Cause I'm three days ahead Of a man lying dead And a star packing posse Just two moons behind Just two moons behind (c) Bob Westfall 2010

Tired Eyes 02:55
TIRED EYES Lay down your tired eyes, forget your journey for a while There’s a light on the horizon Maybe tomorrow clears skies Maybe tomorrow clear skies Come the morning brings new fears Sometimes the lights don’t show the way Another wrinkle marks the years But it’s just another day. Yeah it’s just another day When the good times have all gone There ain’t no way to get ‘em back Sometimes you think they are the one But like the last slips through the cracks Like the last slips through the cracks It’s time to wake and toe the line Ain’t no one shows you the way But maybe one more glass of wine Will help you through another day Will help you through another day Standing there you’re all alone Happens daily sunshine or rain Thumb in the air, high heeled shoes Who’s gonna help you with your blues? Who’s gonna help you with your blues? (c) John Rogers

LOST IN AUSTIN I'm lost in Austin At the Chili Parlor Bar Drinking Mad Dog margaritas Looking for Guy Clark There's salt on the rim There's a lime at the bottom They say the nachos'll kill ya So I got 'em I'm soaking up the scene Just sittin' here Watching a woman suck back Lonestar beer There's a fat man eating chili With a tear in his eye It takes more than a senorita To make a Texican cry Guess I'll pay my bill Get up and go Blow down south To San Antonio I'm lost in Austin At the Chili Parlor Bar Drinking Mad Dog Margaritas Looking for Guy Clark (c) Bob Westfall 2012

Other Days 04:08
OTHER DAYS I see the old man dancing The rain is falling His trousers are tattered He don’t look my way His eyes are empty His thoughts are stolen Won’t you please toss him a nickel for his coffee. You see him dancing down on Young and Dundas He’s collecting spare change from soft people He plays his harp so softly He don’t know what he’s playing Won’t you please toss him a nickel for his coffee. We sit in the hard rock café French fries not eaten We talk about Robert Plant’s guitar Take some pictures The old man is outside All alone but he’s not lonely Won’t you please toss him a nickel for his coffee. His hands they shake until he drinks his beer People think he’s crazy. He don’t drive a car Ah, He’s only human. Who do they think they are? Won’t you please toss him a nickel for his coffee. The music stops. The old man walks away He’s got no place to go No, he don’t pay hydro But he’ll be back here tomorrow Down on Young and Dundas Won’t you please toss him a nickel for his coffee. (c) John Rogers

SMILE WHILE THE SUN SHINES Smile while the sun shines Tomorrow may rain Love while the heart sings While it knows no pain Life is a dream, a finite aside Someday it will be a flash Before our eyes So, Smile while the sun shines Tomorrow may rain Love while the heart sings While it knows no pain Seeking beauty, seeking truth Finding wisdom in the innocence of youth Smile while the sun shines Tomorrow may rain Love while the heart sings While it knows no pain (c) Bob Westfall 2014

START THE CAR Early morning just past six We’ll be there, skates and sticks Seems like last week Bobby Skates We chased that chair across the lake Helmets bobbing on the players bench Nervous parents, is my kid next? Gate rattles open here comes the child Skates on ice they’re running wild Whistle blows, pucks in the net Game’s all over. Time for hot chocolate Start the car. Days sneak by, turn to years Sticks are slapping, the crowds all cheer Down at the bar we’ll have a beer See you all on the ice next year I’ll sharpen your skates and start the car Try to be wherever you are It’s all a part of life’s big game Sharpen the skates. Start the car. (c) John Rogers

2 OR 3 BLUES If I run around with other pretty girls If I untie their pretty little curls It doesn't mean that I don't love you It doesn't mean that I don't love you It just means I wanna be free to have me two or three It doesn't mean that I don't love you If your buddy Steve sees me on the drive If he tells you, tell him I say "hi" It doesn't mean that I don't love you It doesn't mean that I don't love you It just means I wanna be free to have me two or three It doesn't mean that I don't love you Well, if you get mad and say you're gonna leave That's alright with me, I've got some tricks up my sleeve It doesn't mean that I don't love you It doesn't mean that I don't love you It just means I wanna be free to have me two or three It doesn't mean that I don't love you (c) Bob Westfall 2012

IT'S ALL ALONG THE WAY I stand here, I watch the sky measure the years gone by Was it today or yesterday All my thoughts were gathered and they blew away I stand at the crossroad and try to find my way Try to find my way It’s all along the way. There’s a feeling stirring up in me I try, but I cannot define Could it be the reason God sent me here Or am I just a piece of the puzzle Under the carpet, and I try to find my way Try to find my way It’s all along the way. Now the sun is sinking and the spirits come to pray On the meek and mixed up minds Of the ones who come to play so they can run away They end up walking and they will be back another day They will be back another day It’s all along the way. I try to explain but my thoughts are washed away Like the gutter boats on a rainy day The lights are dim, it’s cold and damp But I’ll find my way. Got to find my way I got to find my way. Oh oh oh It’s all along the way. (c) John Rogers
