WALKING DOWN THE ROAD I'm walking down the road I'm walking down the road Where I'm going, I don't know I'm just walking down the road Maybe I'll go to Mexico Maybe I'll go to Idaho It's pretty in June in Saskatoon Way up through Alaska too I'm walking down the road I'm walking down the road Where I'm going, I don't know I'm just walking down the road Guitars, harmonicas Living the life I wanna, 'cause 9 to 5's monotonous Traveling life is all or bust Got no troubles, go no cares I'm free and clear as mountain air Life's a dream, if you dare Close your eyes, it'll take you there 18-wheelers pass me by Some stop to offer rides Driver says, "Supposed to rain" That's when I smile and say I'm walking down the road I'm walking down the road Where I'm going, I don't know I'm just walking down the road (c) Bob Westfall 2011

DOESN'T IT FEEL GOOD TO BE A FREE MAN? I can see who I wanna see I can be who I wanna be Doesn't it feel good to be a free man? I can go where I wanna go I can know what I wanna know Doesn't it feel good to be a free man? Free, free as the breeze on a sweet summer's eve I'm free to do as I please, no need to breath uneasy Think what I wanna think Drink when I wanna drink Doesn't it feel good to be a free man? I can do what I wanna do I can screw who I wanna screw Doesn't it feel good to be a free man? I can say what I wanna say Play what I wanna play Doesn't it feel good to be a free man? I can see who I wanna see I can be who I wanna be Doesn't it feel good to be a free man? (c) Bob Westfall 2011

CHILDREN OF GOD What's going on? It feels like my conscience is trying to tell me to stay That patience is a virtue, to wait won't hurt you at all Is this fate standing proud and tall? Or my own blind faith with its back to the wall? Children of God, if that's all we are Never stray too far from the brightest star What's going on? The legs of an angel lead to the savior, I know But is this how it's supposed to be? Ten temptations testing me and my soul It feels like forever is too long To leave behind what'll miss me when I'm gone Children of God, if that's all we are Never stray too far from the brightest star What if I leave you naked? Out of touch with what once was sacred Nothing left but the law of the flesh And the will to un-break it An ancient book and a vision of the fall Your own blind faith with its back to the wall Children of God, if that's all we are Never stray too far from the brightest star Children of God, if that's all we are Never stray too far from the brightest star (c) Bob Westfall 2011

SUNNY SIDE OF THE MOON Out in the middle of nowhere Flowers circle the sun Leaves of many colors breed Life when crimson runs Oh, the mountains and the wide open plains Steal you away in a silent parade And leave you with nothing to say Summer's come and spirit's high This is what it's all about Floating on a river of rose petal tea In a boat with the bottom falling out Up, up, and away Into the great unknown You're an abandoned balloon on a journey To the sunny side of the moon (c) Bob Westfall 2011

Wings 02:49
WINGS Everybody's growing wings and flying away They are leaving, but I'll remain I will sing this sad song soft and slow To bring you down before you go Old friends become ghosts When you cannot love yourself And you'll find you starve when you try too hard To love someone else Will I ever be happy? Why should I try if I am just waiting around to die? There's no reason for a man to carry on When the one he loves has left and gone Old friends become ghosts When you cannot love yourself And you'll find you starve when you try too hard To love someone else Everybody's growing wings and flying away They are leaving, but I'll remain (c) Bob Westfall 2011

HOWLIN' AT THE MOON Chaotic box called the mind Tricked me and locked me inside Choked me and stripped the spirits from my eyes Only silence hears the cries Before too long I'll be hearing voices And making irrational choices Hallucinating and hearing noises Mumbling sounds like words disjointed Spend the day staring at the sky Never stopped to wonder why I can't decide if I'm alive Inside of deaths disguise Tomorrow may come a little too soon Shadows of night, a melancholy tune Sleeping through dawn, dying at noon Six feet below, howling at the moon (c) Bob Westfall 2011
7.
MY OH MY My oh my, how the time does fly Why oh why must tears be cried? You are a hazy half moon In the night's starry sky You and you, and me and me Two and two does not make three Just go, walk on down the road Your love has set you free Seems to me this happens every time I open my eyes Love is blind, but only for a while And then it see. And then it leaves. My oh my, how the time does fly You are a hazy half moon In the night's starry sky (c) Bob Westfall 2011

Ah Love 02:55
AH, LOVE Ah love, you never know the way it'll go It'll lift you up or drag you down The long and lonely road Ah love, you gotta play to win You gotta take a chance and lay your luck on the line You gotta throw it all in If we could see the future inside a crystal ball We'd calculate every step and never have the privilege to fall Ah love, I've put down my shield My heart yearns for everything true Now before you I kneel Take me in and teach me how to do no wrong Let love release me into a better song Life is mine to live and I want to live it right When my soul is heaven, pure will be the light Pure will be the light. (c) Bob Westfall 2011

YELLOW SKINNED WOMAN BLUES Prisoner in the basement room Prisoner in the basement room Waitin' on a yellow skinned woman to turn blue. Come on telephone, don't ring on me now Come on telephone, baby don't ring on me now My conscience couldn't take it She'd surely break down Freedom is just one woman away Freedom is just one woman away Baby I need your lovin' to break these chains Prisoner in the basement room Prisoner in the basement room Waitin' on a yellow skinned woman to turn blue. (c) Bob Westfall 2011

FREEDOM WITHIN SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Well, I'm broke. I got no money But it don't matter, it's just money I may die tomorrow or I may die today Why would I wanna go to work anyway? I've been lost and I've been won Loneliness is the cost of gettin' things done I've got a friend who just signed her life away She found security in a ball and chain There's a cigarette dangling from the mouth Of a withered and frail Fijian woman Her fingers are thin and her lips are blue Look into her eyes and she'll analyse you There's tough times all around There's money, fags, and joints on the ground There's a balcony to jump off if you feel the need to do it If you think about the future and say, "screw it." Everybody's got the dollar sign disease Think about a million bucks and get weak in the knees But I'm just a hypocrite, guilty as charged The purest form of freedom can be found behind bars Punch the clock and buy some time With mushroom tea and Japanese plum wine Maybe we can wake up in a dream Where nothing is exactly what it seems Maybe we can wake up in a dream Where nothing is what it seems (c) Bob Westfall 2011

I CAN'T PROMISE YOU ETERNITY You gotta do what you gotta do Sometimes it hurts You gotta do what you gotta do Before it gets worse This ain't nothing new This ain't nothing new to me This ain't nothing new It's only new to you You gotta do what you gotta do Once the sights are set You gotta do what you gotta do Move on but never forget This ain't nothing new This ain't nothing new to me This ain't nothing new It's only new to you Every bridge burned is a heavy lesson learned Don't build your world around me I can't promise you eternity (c) Bob Westfall 2011

Repent or you will go To desolation row, desolation row, desolation row Repent or you will go To desolation row Repent or go down below There's no postcard to send from the end No postcard to send from the end There's no postcard to send from the end It's the end, my friend, the end. WHEN I GET HOME When I get home I'm gonna love you like there's no tomorrow Though my heart may explode along the way When I get home I'm gonna love you like there's no tomorrow I smell your skin in the wind I feel you in everything I touch I never thought that being apart Would cause me to miss you this much When I get home I'm gonna love you like there's no tomorrow Though my heart may explode along the way When I get home I'm gonna love you like there's no tomorrow Guitars play on a sunny summer day Foreign eyes glance me way I can't help but look away Lover, I'm not ashamed to say When I get home I'm gonna love you like there's no tomorrow Though my heart may explode along the way When I get home I'm gonna love you like there's no tomorrow (c) Bob Westfall 2011

To The Queen 02:42
TO THE QUEEN I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love With you, and you love me too You're the one, you're the one, you're the one For me, and I'm the one you need Our souls intertwine like grapes on a vine Sweet and fine, like soft sunshine When we kiss, when we kiss, when we kiss We kiss the world away, and that's the way we'll stay That's how we'll stay (c) Bob Westfall 2011

about

Ah yes, Diamonds For The Queen.
The Queen that is soon to wed another man.
Alas, the heart doth feel a pang.
But it doth matter not, for I be not the marrying kind.
- Roberto De La Hoya, circa 1592

This is an album I recorded in my parents' basement in the suburbs of Vancouver, during breaks between university semesters in 2011. It is a natural and organic recording; no auto tune, no click tracks, no quantization, no major editing, etc. All songs were played in a free hand style and most were sung as they were played. Old school style. The way I like it.

The Queen is Jae Hyeon, and the album is forever dedicated to her spirit.

Life around the time of this recording was a wild and exciting time; my room mate was regularly using my spatula to clean his cat's litter box, and I didn't even know it. We are still good friends! Life is a strange and beautiful occurrence.
