about

Back in 2009 I courted a young lady whose family was of the hardcore Christian type. Every time I'd go to her family's home, there would be a bible the size of a picnic table sitting on the kitchen counter, with large half-burnt candles surrounding it, and colorful Christmas lights dangling from the cupboards above. This young lady was a virgin, and her strange mother would not let us watch The Sound Of Music with the door closed. Well don't worry mother, I fell asleep during that film; most boring musical ever made. As I recall, that boring musical was this young lady's favorite film of all time. Needless to say, this courtship lasted no more than two months, and a virgin she remained.

lyrics

CHILDREN OF GOD
What's going on?
It feels like my conscience is trying to tell me to stay
That patience is a virtue, to wait won't hurt you at all
Is this fate standing proud and tall?
Or my own blind faith with its back to the wall?

Children of God, if that's all we are
Never stray too far from the brightest star

What's going on?
The legs of an angel lead to the savior, I know
But is this how it's supposed to be?
Ten temptations testing me and my soul
It feels like forever is too long
To leave behind what'll miss me when I'm gone

Children of God, if that's all we are
Never stray too far from the brightest star

What if I leave you naked?
Out of touch with what once was sacred
Nothing left but the law of the flesh
And the will to un-break it
An ancient book and a vision of the fall
Your own blind faith with its back to the wall

Children of God, if that's all we are
Never stray too far from the brightest star
Children of God, if that's all we are
Never stray too far from the brightest star
