Wish I Were A Ramblin' Man (Westfall)

about

"I wrote this song at Green Lake in September of 2011. I was a full time university student at the time, and dreaming about a future of freedom. Now I live on an island in Thailand and drive a scooter to my part time job. #Winning." - Bob

lyrics

WISH I WERE A RAMBLIN' MAN

I wish I were a ramblin' man
And the highway were my home
I'd ramble round from town to town
A body born to roam
Thumb in the air, headlights glare
Livin' like a rolling stone

I long to see history
In the air of unknown places
Feel naked emotion
On ancient faces
I want to be where highway wind
Whips tumbling tumbleweeds
And leaves no traces

Railroad track stitched through
Picture perfect scenes
Postcard paintings
A young man's dreams
Golden valley stretched through
Soaring mountain peaks
Wild, raging rivers
Winding country streams

Drink a drink for the ramblers
May the best you've ever seen
Be the worst you'll ever see
Every mile's a gamble
On Drifter's Highway
May the boots on my feet
Be good friends to me

I wish I were a ramblin' man
And the highway were my home
I'd ramble round from town to town
A body born to roam
Thumb in the air, headlights glare
Livin' like a rolling stone
Livin' like a rolling stone.
