"This is a song about patience as a child.
I waited for my bike that never arrived." - John

lyrics

MY BIKE
When I was a young boy, I waited for the train
I stood on the platform in the sun or the rain
I knew my bike would soon arrive
I saw it in the window at the five and dime
Each morning I woke up too young to go to school
I walked down to the station and waited for the train

When I heard that horn blast, my heart would race
I knew my bike was here at last and I could go for a ride

Hey mister conductor, Is there a bike in your car?
You see I’ve been waiting here a while
He said, “I’m sorry son”, sometimes he called me by name
He said, “I looked at the other station young man, but your little red bike never came.”

When I heard that horn blast, my heart would race
I knew my bike was here at last and I could go for a ride

That train would chug away pulling on my dreams
Promises broken that’s just the way it seems
Now I don’t like to make a promise, don’t want to make a mistake
Most times can be relied on and sometimes got what it takes

When I heard that horn blast, my heart would race
I knew my bike was here at last and I could go for a ride

Now when I see a train, I remember those days
How I stood on the platform looking both ways
I can see the steam rise I hear the breaks squeal
Most off I remember the slamming of that door
Hey mister conductor, is there a bike in your car?
You see I’ve been waiting here a while
He said, “I’m sorry son”, sometimes he called me by name
“I looked at the other station young man but your little red bike never came.”

When I heard that horn blast, my heart would race
I knew my bike was here at last and I could go for a ride
